Red River Resources’ Thalanga Operation consists of the Thalanga Mill and base metal deposits at West 45, Far West, Waterloo, Orient and Liontown, located about 65km southwest of Charters Towers in central Queensland.
Production of base metal concentrates at Thalanga Operations recommenced in September 2017 after a five-year hiatus. Thalanga is producing copper, lead and zinc concentrates with significant precious metal (gold and silver) credits with off-take agreements in place with Glencore (copper) and Trafigura (zinc & lead) for three years.
The Thalanga Mill has 650ktpa capacity, with current utilisation at 350-450ktpa, so opportunity exists to process additional tonnage at incremental processing costs.
Thalanga Operations currently has an estimated life in excess of seven years based on mining the West 45, Far West, Waterloo and Liontown deposits.

Exploration is underway across the Company’s landholding to add to this portfolio.
To ‘find more ore’, Red River is focused on:
- Defining additional resources at the current development projects (West 45, Thalanga Far West and Waterloo)
- Converting advanced projects (Liontown and Orient) into mineable tonnes and incorporated into the mine plan
- Optimising the cut-off grade at current development projects; and
- Exploring its highly prospective ground holding within the Mt Windsor volcanic belt to find the next generation of base metal deposits.
